Background: Elijah got into YGO at a young age and all throughout his school years he dueled his friends and collected the cards. His life passed by uneventfully as he went through the monotony of the modern world. He graduated from high school when he was 18 and is currently in between jobs, now he faces the changing tide as the spiritual explosion occurs.

Personality: Laid back, shy

Name: Bek Cassel

Alias: "Rogue Knight"

Age: 21

Role: Runs a rag-tag gang of close friends called the "Sanctum Rebels"

Backround: Bek grew up with a group of foster kids, 4 of which became his best friends. The 5 of them would run away from their foster homes, being mistreated and abused within the system, and learned to rely on themselves. Having been stealing and taking underground jobs here and there to make ends meat. Bek himself rose to become the head of the group, finding a good place to base and taking part in a lot of underground street duels to make extra money, even making building a duel runner for himself from spare parts. Eventually he earned himself a nickname amongst a lot of street duelers, who dubbed him the "Rogue Knight" as he couldn't be swayed or taken down so easily by some of the larger gangs or even some law enforcement. Currently the group just work in underground duels and card trade deals, avoiding law enforcement and government bodies as much as possible, but with the spirit explosion coming across the horizon, it seems like they're being prepared to work and operate on a whole other level.

Personality: Bek is mainly pretty serious. He can be very laid back and chill around those he cares about, and a strong leader. But around others, he's very cool and collected, and stands his ground strong.

Job: Pro Duelist

Background: Hakim got into dueling at a young age when he was kicked out of his family for killing their dog and wounding their mother with a kitchen knife; he eventually got out of the orphanage system by displaying superior intellect and getting himself adopted. Hakim eventually ran away from his new home after transferring his new parent's funds to his private account and escaped from the country using it. He settled in his current city and bought a bunch of Yugioh cards, and ended up earning a name for himself in the underground duel arenas, earning enough prize money to live. Using his skills, he made an underground "gang" of people who enjoy dueling; in reality the gang is more worker class people who get together sometimes to do things the leader tells them to, in the form of events; no one knows who the leader is, or who the other members are. He resides in the shadows and no one knows his face.

Personality: Serious, cocky, level-headed, sociopathic.

Backround: Lucas was born in the super slums of the Sanctum, to parents that didn't wish to have him but were too poor, or rather too scared, to try and abort him. With foster homes in the slums already being well over capacity and fearing consequences from law enforcement, they were forced to keep Lucas as their child. With the added cost of a child on an already strained income, Lucas' father fell to alcohol, eventually drinking himself to death as Lucas turned 4 years old. His mother blamed him for the death of his father and physically abused him, whipping him with belts and locking him in a small compartment cupboard filled to the brim with metal shards and tools. Throughout the next 5 years of his life, his mother kept repeating the same phrases over and over. About how he was a mistake and that they let fear rule them. That his father died because of it. Having lived his entire life hearing how the very aspect of fear could ruin it, he began to ignore his own fears until eventually the very aspect of fear never entered his mind. Having gone from an abused, terrified child to bubbly and silly caused his mother further anger as she now felt alone in her misery. Believing that her child has some sort of defect and the stress piling up, she overdosed on a bad batch of drugs she found in a dumpster. Although Lucas was left alone at the age of 10, he seemed entirely unphased. With his bubbly demeaner and upbeat attitude, he found some work collecting scraps for coin in order to feed himself, but it was very little. At the age of 12 he sought to earn more in order to better feed himself. Having developed skills in blending in, as well as hiding and climbing; he stalked the gateway to the fantasia district. Having remembered the patterns of those passing through as well as examining areas around the entrance, Lucas snuck his way into the financial district. Due to his appearance and tattered rags, he knew it would be very obvious that he was from the slums so he moved through cracks and avoided most people. He eventually found his way to the underground duel arena; even though it was filled with people, everyone had their eyes on what was going on in front of them and completely ignored what he was up to. As he was stealing some scraps to sell back in the slums, a young girl stepped on his hand in order to stop him from taking any more. She began to lecture him and Lucas believed she was going to tell him how stealing was wrong, when in actual fact she ended up telling him that he was stealing the wrong things. After a long conversation a friendship began to bloom and they sat and watched the duels in front of them. This was Lucas' first introduction to the cardgame and began his love for it. After being introduced to his friends father, a dedicated family man who was rarely around due to working so many hours in order to provide for him and his daughter, decided to adopt Lucas so that he could stay in the financial district and so his daughter wouldn't have to lose her first friend. As they grew up together, Lucas and Nicole's skills grew with them, becoming a lot stealthier and even managing to swipe some things from well-guarded places. Their love for the cardgame also increased. Unlike Nicole, Lucas' way of dueling was always extremely straightforward: attack to win, fearing nothing in his path; including his opponent's cards, but, that rarely ever worked.

Personality: Lucas is a very simple, bubbly and lighthearted person. He tends to make friends easy but many people, especially those with problems in their lives find him irrating due to his constant upbeat attitiude. Despite his optimistic outlook and complete lack of any fear in his actions, Lucas can still take situations seriously but will find fun in everything he does.

Name: Nicole Oakono

Alias: "The Strategist"

Age: 17

Job: Professional Pawner

Backround: Nicole was born into a working class family in the fantasia district. Her father worked in the factory while her mother took on clients as a fortune teller. While her family was well-off and happy for a while, at a young age her mother suddenly passed away. When with a client, she apparenrly was overcome by some force and overwhelmed by it; yet the autopsy just stated it was an aneurysm. Her father had to take on a lot of extra hours at the factory in order to maintain their life and while he does so with ease, it leaves little time for family interaction. At one point while wandering around and looking in at different trinket shops, Nicole noticed and gravitated towards a certain deck of cards. When she asked about it, the owner stated it was from a rather popular card game that people in the city are playing. Wanting the cards bad enough and her father not currently around to give her some cash, she quickly formulated a plan to steal the deck while the owner was busy and did so with very little difficulty. Having felt a rush from the aspect of stealing, she spent her time pickpocketing and doing other "risky" antics. While walking around reading some more cards that she stole, she bumped into someone on the street who recognised the cards. This young man told her about a hangout spot where people tend to play the game for all sorts of prizes. Nicole ended up in the underground arena where she witnessed people playing the game for cash, drugs and all other bits and bobs. Immediately intrigued with the thought of gaining something through playing a game, she attempted to go and play but was told at her age she could only watch. While going to take a seat, she noticed a kid in tattered rags attempting to slyly swipe things from seats. This boys name was Lucas and while he seemed hopeless, he had a sparkle in his eye and an endearing smile, so Nicole decided to "take him under her wing". After getting her father to adopt Lucas, the two grew up enhancing their skills and swiping risky things for cash in order to get more cards. Even though they were able to duel in the arena, the very common cards they used caused people to rarely pay attention to their duels. Unlike Lucas, Nicole was extremely cunning at the game and perhaps a prodigy when it comes to forming strategies. She always won her duels but nobody ever really took notice. She was dubbed "The Strategist" by the few that cared enough to watch, making a very small name for herself.

Personality: Nicole is an extremely intelligent and calculated person, yet playful and mischievious. She takes very little seriously and this often causes her opponents and most people around her to underestimate what she's capable of.

Alias: "The Theatrical Trickster"

Age: 18

Job: Entertainer

Background: Fritz was born into a family of performers and was trained to be one from the day he was born he was trained in knife throwing and juggling as well as in his general on stage performance. At the age of 7 he was brought into the family business as an on stage performer though his onstage antics, stage presence and his natural charisma made him an instant hit and he quickly became the circus's star attraction. One day a during a routine performance a flaming knife stunt went wrong and caused his families circus tent to burn down, after seeing his families primary source of income go down fritz decided to leave home so there income would last longer taking nothing with him but his costume and his will to make the world smile and after earning enough money doing street performances earned enough money to buy himself a deck of yu-gi-oh cards which he quickly combined with his natural performing ability however little did he know that a chance encounter would change his life forever...

Personality: Retaining all of his traits from his circus days Fritz is naturally more on the flamboyant side  this can sometimes irritate some people he has there best intentions at heart and will always try to make anyone smile even in the darkest of times.

Alias: "Terminator"

Age: 21

Role: Both the Muscles and Tech-Head of the group.

Backround: As a boy Macon doesn't remember much of his childhood. Only that his parents had worked for the government district as tech heads, but during a data breach they were assassinated. To cover it up the government initially tried to kill Macon as well, but an anonymous agent got to him first, hiding him away in the Sanctum Slums so that the government would believe he'd be dead. Macon grew up with Bek and the others in the foster homes as well, becoming Bek's best friend and was the tallest out of all of them. He eventually grew into his size, not being too bulky but clearly extremely fit, many people would not mess with him in fights. Even though most would assume he was a jawk by his demeanor, he was actually quite brilliant with technology and computers. As the group formed the Sanctum Rebels Macon took the liberty of establishing their base, as well as handling any inside job that included the works of hacking or tech displacement. Even creating a fake identity pass for himself in order to get into some of the districts. Taking up the job as both the Enforcer and Tech geek of the group he was able to incorporate that within his duel styles. He was known to be ruthless, using strategy to bring out a number of powerful monsters to take down his opponents, and gang members knew whatever he couldn't take down with his cards, he could do with his bare fists.

Personality: Macon is rather serious, and generally doesn't joke around too much unless around friends. In a duel he keeps a serious demeanor, and has a short temper which is why he lashes out with all his strength.

Alias: The Network Queen

Age: 23

Job: Works as an analyst for the Datacron Tower

Backround: Lena Rison started off as an orphaned girl in the Sanctum Slums, eventually taking refuge at a Foster Home. On the streets she had taken up dueling to make some extra cash, and eventually started bonding with a few younger kids at the orphanage as well. None of them had known about this fantastic card game, but they enjoyed watching her play and would sneak in to look at her cards. One night she caught the 4 kids sneaking in, and decided to just explain the game to them. Their eyes glowed with excitement, and realizing just how happy it made them, she decided to win and make a few deals for more cards to give to the boys. They all looked up to her as an older sister, and when they got older and decided to move out she went with them to watch after them. Having taught them nearly everything she knew about dueling and how the slums worked, they all formed a gang of sorts called the Sanctum Rebels. However Lena felt responsible at the end of the day to put bread on the table, and knowing that the Rebels would have their shortcoming on days where deals had gone awry or busted, she knew they couldn't keep this lifestyle up forever. So she started applying and working her way up, proving to be a skilled duelists and intellegient person she eventually landed herself a job at the Datacron tower as an Analyst. Thought she would have to move there in order to maintain this job, and so she put Bek in charge of the kids. She sent checks to them every week, and visited whenever she could however sparce that may be. It hurts her to not be with her family anymore, but she knows her little brothers can protect themself, so she has nothing to worry about. Currently she aiming for a promotion in order to bring her family into the tower as well, but she's heard somethings sturring around the tower....

Personality: Lena can be a sweet and caring soul, but can also be incredibly dangerous and vicious. Especially when messing with her family. She's very determined and when she sets herself to something she does not give up until she's reached her goal.

Name: Alexander Elling

Alias: "Dragon Commander"

Age: 25

Job: Head of the Datacron StrikeD Team

Backround: Alexander was born into a prominent and skillful dueling family. His father being head of security at the Datacron Tower ensured him and his younger brother a chance to rise up the ranks. His mother had died when he was young, and so he was raised solely on his father's extremely strict discipline, but he admired his father and his deck, The Dragon Rulers. Dueling and fighting came naturally to him, he excelled at both and wiped the floor with anyone in his class and even those ahead of him. One day he snuck out of the Tower and into the different districts. Amazed at some of the things he had seen, he knew exactly why the Tower was in place, and how it was meant to protect the city. Reverring at how beautiful Starbound City was, he eventually reached the slums on the outer wall. He was disgusted, almost right away he saw a women being attacked by a gang of hoodlums. He traversed the slums more, disgusted at the cheap tactics they used when dueling as well as the illegal activity that swarmed the place. He knew something had to change, that the Sanctum Slums could not be apart of this city anymore. When he returned home he immediately enlisted into the Datacrons Forces, and after just a few short years became one of their highest ranked members, as well as their youngest. He was given the liberty to assemle his own Squad, and so he found some of the best Dragon Duelists in the City and recruited them. He even let his younger brother Baren join. He noticed Baren was a powerful duelists but was also quick tempered and arrogant, hoping to shape his brother he allowed him onto the StrikeD Squad. He's been assigned a special mission just recently on emergency noticed, and so has tasked his Squad to explore the Districts for clues of something.

Name: Will Varen

Role: Right Hand Man to the Dragon Commander, member of StrikeD

Backround: Will was raised in the fantasia district, his father a simple factory manager and his mother a chef. Will grew up admiring the elite soldiers of the Datacron Tower, wanting to be what he percieved as a hero himself. Will's mother, Sarah, was given a promotion to cook in the Datacron Tower, however Will's father Harry became jealous. Harry had liked having the control and power in the house, and for his wife to their key to the Datacron Tower and rich district of Starbound simply felt like a slap in the face, one he would return just the same. Days like this were normal in the Varen household. The day came for Sarah to accept her new position, but Harry wouldnt let her, keeping her locked in a closet for most of theday. Hearing his mother weep for hours, Will realized he had to finally stand up to his father. Sarah could hear the two screaming, and as she was yelling through the door for Will to just run away, silence hit the air. The door opened to Will having blood on his hands holding a knife, and Harry laying on the ground bleeding. Will had tears streaming down his cheeks, dropping to his mother's arms.Sarah felt horrible, knowing her weakness pushed her son into this situation to begin with. She realized she had to be brave too, and so she packed their bags that night and left with Will to the Datacron Tower, accepting her position. As Will got older he knew he also had to help his mother provide, as her sole income was just barely keeping them in the Tower. So he took a security position. It wasn't long though that Alexander took notice to him, as Will went the extra mile in every single case he had, even preventing a large break-in by single handedly taking down a group of tresspassers looking to attack the Tower in the middle of the night. After this Alexander called for Will and invited him to join his newly formed team to protect Starbound, knowing he could trust Will and his instinct to act. Will agreed, sharing the same vision as Alexander, knowing just what goes on in the lower district. With this new position Will can traverse the districts again and support his mother. Unfortunately somethings come to light....when looking into his own past to make sure there was no trail left from the attack on his father, he found something quite odd, or more so didn't find anything.There was no record of death, as well as no sightings of his father in the past 10 years.....so he's out there somewhere, and Will knows exactly who he's coming for.

Personality: Will is a pretty cold person, only showing his warmer side to his mother. Otherwise he does not leave room to joke around. He's known to be very powerful when dueling, not holding back to anyone.

Role: Youngest of the Sanctum Rebels, generally a good pick pocket and theif

Backround: Chase is the youngest of the group, not remembering much of his childhood. He was brought to the Orphanage as a baby and has no record of having a family. Something has always pulled him to the others though. He loved watching them duel, sneak around, fight, etc. They looked like a group of warriors to him. He tagged along with them, looking to them as older siblings. They wouldn't let him join in too much other than the occassional robbery or scam, so he was left at home a good bit. But he didn't mind at all because he had his imaginary friends to play with. The others were a bit concerned for him at first, as he would occasionally talk or play with his monster cards excessively, but they just took at as a passion for dueling. Now that he's a bit older he doesn't talk to them infront of the others, but he still likes to talk to his cards in his room.

Role: Right hand of the Admin.

Background: Samantha is a peculiar girl, no one knows anything about her, apart from she works for the Admin, though even she does not know who he is.

Personality: A wild girl, she is very care free but holds a dark personality.

Name: Ben Mourning

Alias: Master of Freedom

Age: ??? (Last Known Records state 64, but appearance seems like he is 30)

Role: Head of the Freedom Resistance Terrorist Group

Background: Not much is known about Ben. Only that when he was in his late 20's the man had been on Starbound's top 10 most wanted list, and he had had a run in with a young Leon Eiling until escaping. He's now resurfaced, seemingly not aged at all, as leader of a terrorist organization which has been procurring and "freeing" spirits for an unknown reason.
