The setting begins a few weeks after the network goes down. Most have come to terms with the network being lost, while others still search for a way back in. In the Network the brotherhood duo known as Nadim and Trent have gathered the NPC's together to take over the real world. The Network, finally at peace, prepares for a takeover. While the real worlds, blind to what's to come, scrambles to create or find a means to duel again!

Name: Mathus Prince

Age: 21

Backstory: Mathus was one of the top duelists in the Network. He had blazed right through the competition with his unlocked Final Hero cards, and was just entered into the Networks Duel League. Just a few short weeks before the League tournament began, the Network went down. Mathus didnt know what do, he felt completely lost. He waited for the Network to come back up, but after each day, his hope faded more and more. Eventually the world governments announced they could not gain access back to the system, and all hope was lost for him. Mathus didn't know what to do with his life now that dueling wasnt apart of it, and didnt have a steady source of income anymore either. Until after a few more weeks, reports had been coming out of people dueling within the real world. Using old duel disks and dueling with cards no one had ever seen before. When one of the duelists were interviewed, he had told the station that these were rare cards, and that there was a whole abundance of them spread throughout the world. Ancient cards long forgotten, that duelists could bring back. While the other duelist had told the station that the cards he used were ones he created himself by utilizing what technology we had today, though it cost him nearly millions just to produce. Realizing now that there was still a chance to duel again, Mathus set out to find a way to duel again, beginning with his old "Duel Monsters History" uni teacher, Professor Athans.

Name: Lars Tyranus

Age: 19

Backstory: Lars is an average Joe on the outside. On the inside however he is a psychopath that does not hesitate to use others to his will. Before the network collapsed, he was a part of an infamous jacket group rendered obsolete after the collapse. Daring, he opened a pathway to the network after the collapse, only to discover that it was much more dangerous than before. He was thoroughly destroyed and before he could escape, he was enslaved by the machine. He now works for the machine, gaining super power in the meantime thanks to it. So far he has enslaved a total of 20 humans. Turning them into hollow versions of themselves that now consider themselves the heroes of the network. In the real world, he is the son of a business conglomerate and is very well off.

Name: Yuki Fortuna

Backstory: Yuki comes family has always been into fortune telling, and that love of fortune lead them to track down a rare deck said to be able to tell fortunes which he currently owns that has been a deck past down through the generations, and its why his family is well off since the fortunes always tell the truth so they prepare for stuff like that. He was able to transfer his fortune cards into Duel Monster Cards as they were Duel Spirits and play them on the network. But then one day while he was roaming around in the network, e of his fortune monsters warned him to leave immediately, and that once he left the game he should prepare for war. Then your character leaves the network, and almost right after, the Network is shut down. So now having total faith in what his fortune ladies have shown he is wary about whatever this war is that's about to come (the network trying to take over our world) and is just trying to see if he can piece other fortunes to figure it out before its too late.

Name: Trent Net

Age: N/A (technically only a few weeks old, but looks around 20)

Backstory: The past is murky for Trent. He doesn't quite remember his history as an AI/NPC. He has a just a few blurry memories, which his older brother Nadim had informed him were memories of when he was an Ace Duelist Training AI, but for some reason none of the pieces seem to fit. Since becoming 100% sentient within the system by his older brother Nadim, he's worked with his brother to fully shut out Earth from their space. When he was given sentience his brother informed him of all the cruelties and slavery the NPC's were put through for the humans own personal use. Enraged by this, he swore to protect his fellow NPC's from anymore human tampering, now teaching them on the various ways on how to protect themselves via Dueling. His brother Nadim who has full Head Administrative control handles the tactical and informational side of the work, heading as the NPC's President/Ruler. While Trent acts as Head commander with Administrative powers. Utilizing this, not only was he able to give access to other NPC soldiers to the Card System data base for them to utilize decks within the network as weapons, but he's been able to gather data from various cards to create his very own personally made deck called the "TechLords". With this, his brother created a single card, called the Chaos Network, as their single weapon to take over the human population. Now he prepares their armies, as well as leading a select task force of his most trusted friends in defending the Network and taking over any mind that enters before their attack.

Other: Because of his administrative powers, he has abilities within the Network such as enhanced physicals, vehicle summoning, and even being able to summon his monsters outside of a duel.

Name: Rhyse Romero (N/A)/Mallus Romero (Goes by Malice in the Network)

Backstory: Both brothers were born into a family with a lot of pride, honor and a sworn duty. To protect the Gods of this world and by extension, their creation - the world. Their family were tasked with protecting an embodiment of an element that makes up the very ground they stand on. Earth. They do this through defeating all those that try to claim that power in a duel of their own creation and the only way to gain access to it is to win a Statue Duel. However, while the Brothers grew up and learned the way of their parents all those in their bloodline that came before them, Mallus became bored of Statue Duels and the duty he was born into instead of chosen, so he decided to break a rule placed upon him by his family, and he entered the Network. The Network was the greatest thing he had ever seen, he was completely free from everything tying him down in the real world. However, when it went down, he felt as if he had lost a piece of himself and he was now chained down in reality, a punishment from the Gods, no less. With the Network being down for weeks, people lost power, energy and the world was slowly entering a crisis. Of course being disconnected from the rest of the world, on top of a giant mountain helped, as they had lived without energy their entire lives. When it came time to choose a successor, their parents had given them a task. They had placed the very foundation of Statue Duels - The Statue Zone inside a glass case, and the first one of them to successfully steal it would become their successor. Neither of them understood why such an important role came down to thieving something. Although their parents laughed and just said it was down to good fun. They placed the card in the case and had people guard the case but by the next morning, it was gone. They were astounded. Yet no one had owned up to it. So they decided to figure it out for themselves.

Their father walked towards his office, with a serious look upon his face, not turning his eye to anything around him, walking quickly, yet with pride while drinking his Capri Sun. He opened the door to his office, with his son Rhyse sitting there. "Okay, Rhyse, a card can't just get up and steal itself." His father walked around Rhyse, hanging his coat up on a stand. "I want details." He sits down, just after throwing his empty Capri Sun into a bin close to him. With his back straight, he stares at his son. "What the hell happened last night?" Rhyse, previously sitting with his head facing the floor, turns his head up and looks his father directly in the eye. "... It was a god damn massacre. You had left 7 people on the Graveyard shift. They didn't stand a chance. Suddenly, a janitor walked in - a real unsavory looking fellow, with a mop and bucket. I told him to get lost and that's when he responded with 3 words that chilled me to my very core..." His father looks intently at him, almost lost in the story "W-what did he say?..." Rhyse intensely stares further into his fathers eyes. "No Hablo Ingles... so he kept mopping, closer and closer he mopped. The tension was palpable. One of the guards turned to him and said 'You missed a spot' which is a perfectly normal thing to say to a janitor. Except this was no janitor..." His father sits forward, placing his arms on the desk. "He was the thief?... What happened next?" Rhyse sits forward, uncrossing his legs while staring towards the ground. "A fucking bloodbath... With a single draw he sent a guard flying across a room like a sack of limp dildos. He beat guard number four using only his pinky finger. His PINKY finger. That's when he decided that dueling them would take too long, and threw his mop like a spear at the other guards. Except it wasn't a mop..... It was an exploding mop. Then he jumped and performed the most insanely epic punch I've ever seen in my life. He stuck the landing... and then he turned to me. Stared right into my soul. That's when he said 'I'm gonna kill you so hard you're gonna Die. Hard. With a Vengeance.' that's when guard number six tried to rush him, but he grabbed his mop bucket and poured it all over him. It didn't take long for me to smell the gasoline. That's when he threw the Zippo lighter. Except it wasn't just a Zippo lighter. It was an exploding Zippo lighter. At that point he turned back to me. He approached me, with death in his eyes. He came closer and closer, but that's when the security alarm went off. So he turned, took the card, and just like that. He was gone."

Rhyse's father leaned back in his seat, while squinting his eyes with a look of disbelief and yet you could see he was laughing on the inside. "Bullshit." Rhyse gave him a pondering look. "What?" His father leaned forward again. "First of all, their was no bloodbath. Second, I can see the card in your pocket." Rhyse quickly looked down to see the card poking out of his pocket. He giggled and then they both left the room and announced to their "tribe" that Rhyse was the successor. Rhyse assumed Mallus would be jealous and disappointed, but it seemed that he didn't care, like he had something else on his mind, whatever that could be.....

Name: Gage Lazurian

Backstory: An Ace Duelists AI when the network shut down Gage became self-aware but with no memories of who he was or what his purpose was he began to explore the world he found himself in. After wandering around he eventually witnessed a young man in conflict with 2 other people. Gage approached the two men and instinctively activated his duel disk and quickly disposed of the two men as a rush of emotions filled his body the man he helped introduced himself as Trent net and said those people were trying to ruin his home and that more were around the area. Hearing this gage offered to take care of them for Trent who eventually revealed his true plan to Gage. After hearing Trent's plan Gage decided to accompany him on his mission earning himself a reputation as Trent's problem solver.

Name: Alistair Drake

Age: 25

Backstory: Alistair was born to Ethans and Maryon while they were in High School before they left for College. Maryon had given him to a foster home, Ethans at first disapproved of this, but could do nothing to change Maryon's mind. Eventually Alistair was born at the age of 3 by the Drakes (Henry and Olivia Drake), who were a couple that could not have kids themselves. The Drakes were a prominent dueling family, though they never entered tournaments, they were known by the locals as some of the best duelists around. Alistair's father, Henry, had always been obsessed with finding the THE Dragon deck, which was said to contain the very first Dragons that ever entered our world. This dream however was cut short, as he had died on a quest to find these cards. After this incident Olivia tried her best to keep her son away from dueling and adventuring, but this failed as he shared the passion both his parents once had in the Duel Monsters. With this Olivia told her son the truth of where he came from, and how his biological mother had just recently died as well on a similar adventure. Eventually giving into the fear Alistair promised not to continue his father's journey, and instead focused his time within the Network, a safer alternative to dueling. He had spent years going into the Network, and proved to be a naturally skilled duelist. He rose above the ranks utilizing the best Dragon cards within the Network, never revealing his true name, but going under the username "Draco". In just a few years he had become the biggest sensation on the Network, "Draco" was practically a household name. He kept his identity a secret, and kept to himsef, making his appearances that much more special. While in the middle of another tournament duel, the Network had shut down out of nowhere, and he was kicked from the game. Within just a few days the Network was confirmed to be completely shut down. This utterly destroyed Alistair at first, realizing thorugh the Network that there was no way he could ever give up Dueling. Around this time a book came in the Mail by Chance Corporations, specifically mailed to "Draco" by Solomon Chance himself. This book was a copy of his biological father's own journal on ancient decks. Flipping through he found decks by the name of Knights, Elemental Masters, Ancient Core, Seafarers, Aether Criminals, and so on. With ELemental Masters being highlighted as a rare deck. At first he pondered on possibly going out for that deck, until what seemed to be a small fading Dragon Claw appeared from the corner of the page, flipping it to the last page which had been blank. As he staired at the page words began to appear, revealing details about the Primal Dragon Deck, the very first Dragon deck in existence. Eventually the claw formed into a small dragon that flew out the door right past his mother and out the window. Alistair knew he had to follow it, but his mother argued with him on this. She had been worried he would fall to the same fate his adoptive father and biological mother did, but Alistair argued back telling her whether he died or not at least he died doing something with his life he actually cared for and not hiding around. He refused to become his biological father who gave up on anything tough in his life whether it was raising his son, going after his real mother, or acquiring the ancient decks he first sought out. After awhile his mother gave in, allowing him to leave and continue where his father left off. Alistair followed the small dragon into what was a hidden castle in the Alps. As Alistair walks in,a glowing, radiant dragon is flying above the throne. AListair is led to the throne, and as he sits down an army of dragons appear before him and one by one they all turn into cards and appear in his duel disk. The Dragon that has lead him there turns into the card Primal Spirit Dragon, making Alistair think to himself that this little dragon is going to get him out of a lot of trouble. Then the dragon who hovered over the Throne eventally materializes into the card Primal Dragon, and with that a mark is etched into AListairs face as well as changing the color of one of his eyes. The mark begins to glow as all the dragons reappear to him and all bow showing their loyalty and willingness to serve him. The dragons all disappear, as well as the castle/throne he had been sitting on and the mark goes back to black color. With this, Alistair knows his journey has only truly just begun.

Other: Is currently known as the top duelist in the world. Was given an invitation to the Grand Duel Tournament but refused to enter due to not wanting to find a partner and not wanting to confront his real father.

Role: the peacekeeper of the realms.
Story: Marcus Suleimon was born what seemed an eternity ago, he was chosen from birth with his twin brother Nerazim to guard and protect the respite, to be a champion of the people was Marcus' role. So he was. He protected it from all invaders for millennia but disappeared one day. No one knows where he went. Leaving his brother Nerazim to fend for himself.

Story: Nerazim and Marcus were born on the third moon of the first sun quarter of the creation of the outsiders respite. Ever since, the younger brother Nerazim has been guarding the city and lands with his brother, a fair and gentle soul, he lost his way and became vindictive when his brother disappeared. He protects the city alone in his stead.

Role: Expert Hacker/Bounty Hunter
Story: While the Network was public to the world, Aya made a living hacking into it and selling data discovered in the Network to the highest bidder. Since its collapse, she has been involved in many corporate hostile takeovers and sabotages through methods of hacking into corporations and selling their data. She also has a side hobby which she enjoys - bountyhunting. Taking on any contract she deems fit for the right price.
